'American Idol' Winner Phillip Phillips Engaged, Girlfriend Hannah Blackwell Says 'Yes' To Christmas Proposal [PHOTOS]

American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is engaged to girlfriend Hannah Blackwell, the singer has announced. The "Unpack Your Heart" singer — whose new album Behind Your Light was released earlier this year — proposed to his girlfriend over Christmas and she said "Yes." Phillips, who won American Idol's 11th season with the hit "Home", and Blackwell met in 2012.

Posting to his Facebook and Twitter, the 2012 American Idol winner wrote: "My best Christmas surprise is happening. We're engaged yall! @HannahBlackwell!"

According to People Magazine, the couple met while volunteering at a women and children's center as Hannah was studying to become a nurse.

Hannah, for her part was clearly pretty excited with the proposal, saying she was "overwhelmed' and posting a photo to her Instagram. She captioned it, saying:

"I've been dreaming of this for over 20 years. I've been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness. @phillphill"

According to The Huffington Post, Phillips told radio station 104.3 MYFM about the pair's first kiss, saying that they "had just got through with a date. I had a lot of fun and everything. I gave her a hug, and I said, 'Would you mind if I kissed you?' She said yes, so I freakin' kissed her, and that's what happened. It was very magical." How nice. They do look very good together, huh?
