The CW network granted early renewals for eight series during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour over the weekend, and Supernatural was one show on the list. The long-running series will return for Season 11 in the fall.
"Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience," CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a release ahead of his executive session. "By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season's storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 lineups."
Supernatural will also return to Wednesday nights starting March 18 at 9 p.m. The move coincides with the premiere of iZombie, which will follow The Flash on Tuesdays. Supernatural has been paired with The Flash so far this season and will stay there until March 18.
In other news, the official description for the first installment of 2015, entitled "The Hunter Games," has been released.
"After the massacre at the ranch, Dean (Jensen Ackles), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Castiel (Misha Collins) double their efforts to find a cure for the Mark of Cain but there is nothing in the lore that can help them. Desperate, Castiel comes up with an idea that Sam deems the 'single worst idea I've ever heard.' Meanwhile, Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell) continues to plot against Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and Castiel tries to mend his relationship with Claire (guest star Kathryn Love Newton) who is plotting revenge against Dean for killing her friend."
