Looks like HBO's Togetherness isn't the only news coming from the Duplass Brothers as of late. It's being reported that the famed brothers of Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass have recently signed a four-movie deal with Netflix. In the past, the duo has brought us the likes of Jeff, Who Lives At Home and The Puffy Chair as writers, directors and producers. And, of course, Mark stars in a number of the films as well as playing the part of Pete Eckhart on FX's The League. The recent Duplass deal isn't the first big-star deal Netflix has signed; the online streaming platform also signed the likes of Adam Sandler back in Oct. 2014.
It's being reported by Deadline that the brothers have signed the deal alongside Chief Content Officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, who told the publication about it after signing with the brothers.
The details of the deal state that Netfilx will "finance four movies produced by the brothers." To that, each film will of course be made available to all Netflix subscribers.
On the news, Sarandos told Deadline, "This is just the latest step in our very long relationship with the Duplass Brothers. We've been working with them almost since the very beginning, when they were red-envelope delivery."
Remember that feature of Netflix, readers? The non-streaming feature. Oh, how prehistoric!
Sarandos further commented on the company, stating that, "Independent film has always been a big part of Netflix, and the reason we do things like the Adam Sandler deal is so we can do things like this as well."
