Though we're looking forward to 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse movie, we have other news about the franchise to share with you. According to new and resurfacing rumors, Fox is considering a live-action TV series adaptation of its popular X-Men comic book movie franchise. This news comes after producer and writer of numerous X-Men and Marvel properties, Simon Kinberg mentioned that a TV series would make sense. Now reports are saying a writer has been hired in duo Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, but what could we expect from a Fox-produced X-Men TV show? Let's examine this idea below!

We previously reported on these rumors last year, but now we're hearing more news about Fox moving forward with the idea. According to The Hollywood Reporter and TV Insider, Fox could be making the series as we speak, but the company has not responded to the rumors just yet.

Meanwhile, Slash Film points out that, while this is a cool idea, there is one huge obstacle: Marvel. Yes, Fox owns the X-Men properties, but Marvel still owns the comic books and therefore the storylines. Marvel would have to approve pretty much every storyline if this show moved forward, so it could be pretty hectic. Perhaps some sort of partnership could come out of this idea, but we highly doubt it.

What do you think of these rumors? How would this TV series come to life with the Marvel obstacle? Share your opinions in the comments section below!

Considering Marvel's recent jump into the television world, could we see something similar with Fox's X-Men project? With Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter and the upcoming Netflix shows from Marvel, we know that comic book adaptations are good ideas for the small screen - but can Fox pull off what Marvel has?

Speaking of these shows, we can guess that an X-Men TV show wouldn't involve the bigger characters of the franchise, so our article photo up top features actors you probably won't see on the show.

With Agents of SHIELD in mind, we could see some sort of "Charles Xavier School for the Gifted" storyline play out, with minor mutants taking center stage on the series.

Or maybe we could give a smaller character from the movies their own show! A Kitty Pryde series starring Ellen Page would be amazing for many reasons. The comic book character is very important in the X-Men canon, and Page would be a huge draw.

We can also look at what DC Comics has done on the small screen with Arrow and Flash. Reinventing characters' storylines and even creating new properties is clearly a cool way to go about adapting comic books, especially if Fox doesn't have the rights to the stories!

Fox already has Gotham, too, which is similar to the other DC Comics shows, but from a different timeline. Can they do this with X-Men?

With the most recent X-Men film, Days of Future Past, resetting the timeline in a way, we should consider that almost anything if possible for future projects, including this rumored TV series. So in other words, we can't really start speculating about the TV series until we see a press release from Fox. So the real question is, do you think this will really happen?

What kind of TV show would you like to see from the X-Men world? What characters could you see taking over the small-screen? We'll have to wait and see, but you should let us know what you think will happen with this live-action X-Men TV series that is apparently in the works! Use the comments section below!
