After 40 seasons of laughs from stand-out comedians and great musical performances, Saturday Night Live is celebrating its milestone with an all-new special on NBC. There's no better way to mark the occasion than by bringing back their most popular and memorable member, Eddie Murphy, who is best known for his Gumby, Buckwheat, and Mr. Rogers sketches.

The Bowfinger comedian confirmed with News One, "They're actually having a 40th anniversary I think in two weeks. I'm going to that, and that'll be the first time I've been back since I left."

The Love's Alright singer hasn't been on the show's iconic stage since hosting his final episode on December 15th, 1984. According to Rolling Stone, it appears the feud between the 53-year old stand-up comedian and the variety show has ended since he was described in a David Spade skit as, "a falling star." Going back to his roots, Murphy will show why he has endured these past decades and why he ranked the tenth spot on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.

Here are the top 7 funniest skits of Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live:

7) Gumby

The 48 Hours actor turned the green clay humanoid into a cigar-chomping and irritable celebrity. His famous acth-phrase was, "I'm Gumby, Dammit."

6) James Brown

The Beverly Hills Cop actor was full of energy as he danced and sang from James Brown's Celebrity Hot Tub Party.

5) Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra

Joe Piscopo nailed his impersonation of Ol' Blue Eyes himself. Murphy had the physicality and movements on the spot as he imitated the legendary Motown artist.

4) White Like Me

To expose the the inequalities between white and black Americans, Murphy transformed himself into a mild-mannered white man. In the satirical skit, the Nutty Professor actor learned white people get free money from the bank. Everybody parties when the last black person gets off the bus.

3) Buh-Weet Sings

From The Little Rascals, Buckwheat is all grown-up. He still wears the same outfit and hairstyle from when he was a kid.

2) The Fifth Beatle

Can you name each member of the Fab Four? Did you know the legendary rock group, the Beatles, had a fifth member? There was the saxophonist named Clarence, who never got the credit he deserved.

1) Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood

Mister Robinson's Neighborhood was a parody of the PBS children's show, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. In the sketch, Mister Robinson educates his viewers about his current poor economy, especially since his rent's due. It ends with Robinson running away from his slumlord, leaving through the fire escape. The real Fred McFeely Rogers loved the parody, and thought the affectionate tribute was amusing.

The Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special airs February 15 on NBC.
