LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant has revealed to Jimmy Fallon that he can't spell for sh*t, having recently blamed his injured shoulder on "passing too much." Taking to The Tonight Show the 36 year old NBA legend also explained how he and Fallon used Kobe's status as a Laker in 1996 to buy beer -- when Kobe was still underage -- and chatted about Kobe's new Showtime documentary, Kobe Bryant's Muse, which airs on February 28.

"I love telling stories. True stories," the five-time NBA champ and third leading scorer in league history explained of the new documentary.

The basketball star added that it making a documentary came easy to him after years of shilling terrible shoes for giant multi-national corporation Nike, confusing art and making commercials in the process.

"For me it was really just the process of that, the art that goes into that," said Bryant. "I've been working with Nike for so many years, I enjoyed the process of creating stories for the products, creating captivating campaigns."

"Making the documentary was something that was really easy for me."

Kobe -- who, as ESPN reported, has said he will be ready for Lakers training camp next season -- also explained why he decided to make documentaries rather than other forms of art.

"I can't write books," he shrugged. "I just don't have the patience to sit there and literally write."

But, as Fallon pointed out, Kobe was really into poetry for a while.

"I was," the Lakers star admits. "But then I realized that I can't spell for shit."

His reason? "I didn't go to college. Spelling isn't one of my strong suits."

The pair also reflected on when they first met, way back in 1996. "The first place we went to was Pink Dot; remember that?" laughed Kobe. "I was on the bench, he was doing stand up. We were kinda nobodies."

They certainly were. Check out the photos of the 1996 versions of Kobe and Fallon proving Hell is photos from the mid-'90s.

As Kobe pointed out, "Now I can't even grow hair no more."

Anyway. It turns out Kobe was still able to utilize his status a Laker when the pair jumped in Kobe's Land Cruiser and hit up the Pink Dot to buy beer... While Kobe was underage. Find out what happened in the clip below:
