FX's 'The Bastard Executioner' Pilot: Katey Sagal Starts 'Sons Of Anarchy' Creator's New Drama In March! [WATCH]

After the Sons of Anarchy series finale ended on high note, a production date has already been marked for creator/showrunner Kurt Sutter's new TV show. Actress Katey Sagal, known to audiences as the infamous Gemma Teller, will embark on Sutter's new FX drama, The Bastard Executioner, in March.  

As we previously mentioned, Married with Children actress confirmed her casting announcement during an SOA conference call with reporters. Though we'll have to wait to hear what her upcoming role will be, the Futurama voice actress assures us she will "definitely be involved" in the period piece.

In the plot synopsis for Bastard Executioner, the medieval drama follows a warrior knight in King Edward III's court. The loyal knight has been broken by the ravages of war and vows to leave the way of the sword. When violence strikes again, the retired knight is forced to pick up his sword again.

Sutter moving from a motorcycle gang to a medieval drama shouldn't be much a surprise to SAMCRO fans. Heavily influenced by the writings of William Shakespeare, Sons of Anarchy at first centered on Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam)'s getting revenge against his uncle, who killed his father. Visited by Tara's ghost, Gemma (Sagal) confessed to the murder, never realizing her grandson was close by, listening right in.

According to The Wrap, Sutter confirmed he would be filming his new FX series in Wales on Twitter. Sutter has also posted several images of possible filming locations on his official Instagram account, including Caerphilly Castle in South Wales. Director/producer Paris Barclay reunites with Sutter and Sagal on the project as well.

The last time viewers saw Sagal, Gemma was marching to her death, as Jax held a gun to the back of her head. We previously mentioned, the final season of Sons of Anarchy is heading towards DVD and Blu-Ray on February 24.

Filming for The Bastard Executioner begins March.
