Rosie O'Donnell has been in the news a lot recently after coming to the decision to part ways with The View. A lot of different rumors have been circling the comedienne on what ultimately made her decide to leave the series, including a feud with her co-stars Whoopi Goldberg and behind-the-scenes drama with network execs. However, the ABC daytime talk show host got candid on why she decided to pack things in, saying that it was her health that ultimately lead to the decision.
Rosie opened up in a video blog post today where she cleared up all the rumors surrounding her exit.
"The truth is, I had a heart attack two years ago and stress is very bad for heart attack survivors," the star explained. "You should minimize your stress, maximize your exercise and control your diet. So that's what I'm doing. I'm minimizing my stress by leaving The View."
The star says that she was dealing with too much stress between her work life and her home life and that something had to give, which is why she ultimately picked the one that she could control.
"There's a lot of stuff going on at home and there's lots of stuff going on at work and the only thing I can control is the work," Rosie revealed in the clip. 'By leaving I can turn that volume down all the way to zero and just focus on what I need to focus on, [which] is my health and my family."
While many might be sad to see the host depart from the series, it seems that Whoopi is rejoicing, as Radar Online reports that had Rosie not decided to leave, Whoopi would have been fired from the program with ABC buying out her contract.
"The show was barely stabilizing in the ratings so they decided to buy Whoopi out of her contract," and insider explained to the news site.
