Last night's Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special was an undoubted success. It was hilarious, entertaining and a total feel good piece of material –– not to mention nostalgic. No matter the word you choose to describe it, the idea of getting all of those talented individuals, many of whom started on the famed NBC sketch show, into one room was undeniably legendary. And being that it was a live show, it just meant that anything could happen. And, well, anything did happen. With funny moment after funny moment occurring every few seconds, we here at MStars News couldn't help but notice that there were several awkward moments from the much talked about night.
And wouldn't you know it, we've decided to run down a list of the top 5 awkward moments from last night's SNL anniversary special.
From Eddie Murphy to the ever so awkward Robert De Niro, (at least, when he's interviewed or put in front of a live audience), last night's 3.5 hour episode of Saturday Night Live was filled with tiny moments of gawkiness.
But hey, we're not judging. We loved it just as much.
Anyway, let's take a look at some "what the hell" moments from the episode below:
DANA CARVEY
Fans of Dana Carvey will forever love his 'Choppin' Broccoli' sketch, but the truth is after he says it a couple of times ... that's pretty much it. And it seemed Carvey realized that last night where he delivered the famed lines and then gave a little "Well, okay, that's it" type look. Of course, that didn't stop it from being entertaining.
ARE WE GOING TO COMMERCIAL?
Whether it be during Eddie Murphy's time on the stage or Jerry Seinfeld's hilarious segment, there were a couple of times during the night where whoever was directing the show went to commercial a little late. That, or the performers just didn't stretch out the time quite enough. Whichever it was, the moment was a bit awkward. Having said that, Seinfeld handled it beautifully...
ROBERT DE NIRO

Anytime you stick Robert De Niro in front of a live camera it's pretty weird for the viewer. The legendary actor seems to have an immense discomfort with the in-house audience. Now, while he was awkward, we don't want to get on his bad side. You know, just in case his regular onscreen persona was to come after us.
CHEVY CHASE
Chevy Chase is rumored to be one of the most hated cast members in SNL history. Despite that, he came to honor the place that made him a household name. But it didn't make him any less awkward.
EDDIE MURPHY
We agree, Eddie. #SNL40 pic.twitter.com/6Q5c0toJ4W — Saturday Night Live (@nbcsnl) February 16, 2015
Okay ... Eddie Murphy is without a doubt a comedic genius. And his showing up to the 40th anniversary special was certainly that of legendary status. Before the show kicked off, Murphy was interviewed by Today Show weatherman Al Roker and told him that he's not the nervous type of guy. And after watching his bit, we can understand why.
Basically, what did he do? He came out, said a couple of nice things – but clapped more than he talked – and then ended it ... awkwardly ... in under 90 seconds. Though we will admit that some of the oddness was due to the lack of cutting to commercial. But still, we're not quite certain what Eddie Murphy did other than clap during last night's show.
Perhaps it is safe to say that we enjoyed Chris Rock introducing Eddie Murphy more than we did seeing Eddie Murphy back on Saturday Night Live?
Readers, did you notice any other awkward moments from last night's episode?
