Just ahead of the Season 3 premiere of the crime thriller, The Following, Fox has released new teasing info. Will Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) face a "deadlier threat," someone who is more sick and twisted than Joe Carroll (James Purefoy)?
As we previously mentioned, ex-FBI agent Hardy (Bacon) went rogue in order to catch the notorious killer Carroll (Purefoy) and stop his murderous cult. Because he caught him once red-handed, Hardy thought he could do it again. He never thought those closet to him would suffer the consequences.
The second season changed dynamics when the two men had to rescue Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea), Hardy's lover and Carroll's ex-wife, from the psycho twins, Mike and Luke (Sam Underwood). In the season finale, Carroll was back in custody but Mike found himself picked by a mysterious stranger.
In this upcoming season, Carroll is heading back to death row, but will Ryan need his help again? Ashmore tells TV Line, "What I love about this season is that the Joe Carroll of it all is behind us, and yet he's still so interwoven emotionally where these characters are. He's always sort of with us, which is nice."

E! Online has gotten an early peek at the first episode and describes it as, "The premiere alone feels like a whole new era is dawning on the Fox serial killer thriller, from new love interests to new threats plaguing the city. But at least Ryan Hardy and Mike Weston's bromance is something we can all count on, as something-or rather, someone-from their past returns for revenge and to expose the truth about a secret they've been keeping from everyone."
Will audiences enjoy this third season? E! continues, "Only time will tell if The Following will be better than last season, but we can confirm that it's darker, more twisted, frightening and nightmare-inducing as ever...watch this one with the lights on, people."
As we mentioned before, Michael Ealy (Common Law) and Allison Mack (Smallville) are joining the cast.
The third season of The Following premieres on Fox March 2 at 8 p.m
