When the first teaser trailer for Disney and Lucasfilm's upcoming 2015 blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiered in November of last year, the Internet practically broke with excitement. That preview, however, consisted of only 7 scenes, making us wonder what will happen when an extended trailer is released. Well, director J.J. Abrams this week gave us some hints about that news, teasing some details concerning when the next trailers will drop this year. Find out more about this story below!

According to a new interview with the Irish Examiner (via Star Wars 7 News), the Star Trek director announced that the new trailers would be released "when the time is right." Obviously that isn't the same news as an actual date or film it would appear in front of in theaters, but it still allows us to consider possibilities of the 2015 release of an extended preview.
I'm always grateful that people would be asking. But the truth is it's like we haven't shown anything," the acclaimed filmmaker said on camera during the 2015 Oscar Wilde awards. "There's sort of an abundance of riches with the stuff we could put out so we're just trying to make sure it's as good as it could be before we put anything out. The disaster would be to race something out for the sake of making an impact and it being not as good as people deserve."
He continued, "We don't want to be coy but we have almost a year until the movie comes out, so we have to be smart about what we say and when. We're always having conversations about it. I would say thank you for being interested. Thank you for your patience and honestly, I can't wait for you to see the film."
As Slash Film points out, the Nov. 2014 release of the first Episode VII teaser trailer came as a result of fans pleading for some footage before the end of the year. Perhaps we can expect a similar result as we draw closer to the Dec. 18 release date?
