Just ahead of the Season 3 premiere of the crime thriller, The Following, Fox has released new teasing info. Because of their latest mass murderer, will Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) have to "save" Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) from death row?
As we previously mentioned, ex-FBI agent Hardy (Bacon) went rogue in order to catch the notorious killer Carroll (Purefoy) and stop his murderous cult. Because he caught him once red-handed, Hardy thought he could do it again. He never thought those closet to him would suffer the consequences.
The second season changed dynamics when the two men had to rescue Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea), Hardy's lover and Carroll's ex-wife, from the psycho twins, Mike and Luke (Sam Underwood). In the season finale, Carroll was back in custody but the surviving twin was picked up by a mysterious stranger.
As we mentioned before, Ashmore hinted at Carroll's involvement in the series, "What I love about this season is that the Joe Carroll of it all is behind us, and yet he's still so interwoven emotionally where these characters are. He's always sort of with us, which is nice."
In their Spoiler Room, Entertainment Weekly adds, "Since he's on Death Row, he won't get nearly as much screen time this season-in fact, you won't see Ryan's favorite serial killer during the first two episodes. But Ryan will be forced to visit another familiar face after one of his team-members is compromised."
Bacon reveals to TV Guide, "There's just this inexplicable connection that [Ryan] has to this guy that is a strange sort of bromance. It's almost like [Joe's] the other woman, or the other lover...He's been such an important piece of my life."

We also mentioned, Michael Ealy (Common Law) and Allison Mack (Smallville) are joining the cast. Could either one be another follower to Carroll's cult?
The third season of The Following premieres on Fox March 2 at 8 p.m
Readers, are you excited to see the premiere?
