The family also wrote a long, loving tribute to their loved one and posted a photo of Givens with his wife, and son:
"From the entire Givens family on behalf of Ahmad:
To all who have supported and loved him, we are forever appreciative for your thoughts and prayers, throughout his struggle over the past two years. For all that didn't know him personally, he is not just the "Real" you knew on TV. He is a loving father and husband and cherished member of our family. He was the sweet little boy who was born with health problems, who overcame them. Throughout his struggles, he became the man God wanted him to be. How fitting it was that his last day was God's Sabbath day, which Ahmad honored faithfully.
He holds a special place in our lives and we will always remember him as our Mahdi, the faithful brother, the exceptional son, the easy smile, and the way he could put others at ease. He will be sorely missed and our entire family will always be forever grateful for having him in our lives.
From his parents, Robert and Claudia, to his loving brothers, Sean, Kamal, and Micah, it was a privilege to have him in our lives and to love him for 35 years. We thank you for loving him as we did.
Ahmad told his mother that he hopes God lets him live to see his 35th birthday, and God granted him that last wish, on January 8, 2015. On the morning of February 21, 2015, Ahmad was called home, and we ask everyone that loved him, to help carry on his legacy."

He wrote, "Too all my family and friends going crazy I am still here and no I would never do anything to harm my self sometimes the media goes over board I'm just glad I have the lord in my life and that's no way to see my brother again!"
