'Once Upon A Time' Spoilers Season 4 Rumple Joining Forces With Maleficent, Ursula & Cruella - What Does This Mean for Emma & Regina?

It's almost time to head back to Storybrooke and after months of waiting for all-new episodes, Once Upon a Time is definitely going to deliver with the second half of their fourth season. But before we get reacquainted with Emma, Mary Margaret, Regina and the rest of the fairytale gang, there are some spoilers that we have for the fans regarding the new villainesses making a splash on the series.

Creators Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis sat down with TV Guide to talk about the theme for the second half of the season.

"One of the big themes in the second half of the season that we want to deal with is what makes someone a hero and what makes someone a villain," Horowitz explained to the news site. "What the differences are and what the common ground is.

The creators reveal that this idea of being a hero or being a villain is something that will definitely be starting to play out with Jennifer Morrison's character Emma.

"Emma has spent a long time in the series being told she's a savior, being told she's a hero. Now she's going to have to face that it's not as black and white as that," the creator explained. "Going into the second half of the season, all of our characters are going to be wrestling with this idea of good and evil, not just in terms of what they're facing as an external threat, but internally within themselves."

This theme will also be playing out with the three new baddies that are coming to town in Maleficent, Cruella De Vil and Ursula. According to IGN, the creators thought that it would fun to play this idea of good versus evil as Rumple is gearing up to join forces with the villainesses.

"What we wanted was for Gold to take the lesson of the heroes who always work together and realize he needed to work together with villains," Kitsis revealed. "We just loved the idea of a team of evil and when we were saying our wish list of who we wanted to write, it was kind of these three."

Once Upon a Time returns with all new episodes March 1 on ABC.
