Based on "understandable opinionated" responses from last Sunday's 87th annual Academy Awards, actor Neil Patrick Harris doesn't know if he's into hosting the Oscars again. The former How I Met Your Mother star recently hosted the Oscars to rather mixed reviews, which it seems he sort of understands. Initially, his announcement of the hosting spot left people rather excited given his pastime performances as the host of the Emmys and Tonys, but the Oscars left many people wanting more... including Harris, apparently.
In a new interview with Huffington Post, Harris told the publication that he doesn't know if he'd host the show again, saying that he's uncertain whether or not his "family nor my soul could take it."
He further commented that the awards ceremony is a "beast."
"It was fun to check off the list, but for the amount of time spent and the understandable opinionated response, I don't know that it's a delightful balance to do every year or even again."
Our guess is Harris' opinion differs when it comes to both the Emmys and Tonys – because he's never not knocked those out of the park.
In terms of the ceremony, Harris told the publication that he was "glad we got thought it" and that the audience appeared to be enjoying the show as it went on. "...I was told the opposite would be true," he also said.
Of course, it's hard to escape feedback, but the actor admits that he didn't "obsessively" keep up with it. He did state, however, that "it was interesting to see just what people thought landed and didn't. It's so difficult for one who's simply watching the show to realize just how much time and concession and compromise and explanation has gone into almost every single thing."
So, readers, what did you think of Harris' performance on the Oscars?
