Show them the money! That is what Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are hoping that the movie studio behind Fifty Shades of Grey is saying to them when the sequel rolls around. Now that the sequels have been green-lighted for the Fifty Shade Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, the stars are hoping to negotiate more money. However it doesn't look like the studio is so receptive to their bargaining.
According to E! News, Dakota and Jamie are hoping to ride the wave of success that their movie saw at the box office after breaking records over Valentine's Day weekend, by getting a much larger paycheck for the second and third flicks.
The Hollywood Reporter started that the pals are hoping to bring their paycheck from $250,000 for the first movie, to a healthy 7-figure payday. The films, based off of E.L. James' novels of the same name, had similar contracts to The Hunger Games, where stars Jennifer Lawrence's salaray for the first picture was the same as Dornan's and Johnson's, but she saw a raise for all the subsequent sequels.
"It was a very basic franchise starter deal," the insider explained of the stars contracts. "Look at Twilight and Hunger Games, and that's where it is heading."
However, while the stars did receive box office bonuses for the film, it doesn't seem like the producer of the flick Dana Brunetti is thinking of changing too much in the budget for the second go around, including the stars' salaries.
"That was the great thing about this film — we knew we were going to be able to make stars," the producer explained. "Now it's their opportunity to get paid on other projects. It's been a breakout role for both of them. I'm sure they are getting tons of offers on other things."
