WATCH: 'Mortal Kombat X' Gameplay & Story Trailer [VIDEO] More Characters Confirmed In 'Cage Family' Teaser

After a number of rumors surrounding new and returning characters appearing in 2015's Mortal Kombat X video game, we now know that Johnny Cage will indeed show up in the story mode as a playable character. In fact, a new trailer entitled "Cage Family" confirms his ex-wife and returning "Kombatant," Sonya Blade will also make a return, joining there daughter, Cassie Cage! Even more characters have been revealed in this new gameplay trailer, so keep reading to find out more on this story!

As you can see, Cassie Cage's parents aren't exactly civil, but when there's a job to do, they have to come together and get it done. Johnny definitely still has that Hollywood attitude that fans of the series love, and Sonya is still as cold as ice. It looks like Mortal Kombat X will definitely play to fans' enjoyment!

Meanwhile, IGN has had the chance to demo some of the gameplay of this game, revealing that other returning characters show up as opponents in the story mode. Those characters include Jax and Shinnok. Plus, the following characters made appearances in the cinematic version of the game:

•  Smoke
•  Nightwolf
•  Kenshi
•  Fujin
•  Stryker
•  Kabal

According to the website, none of these characters (other than Kenshi, who has been confirmed as playable on the mobile version of the game) have been in any promotional material such as trailers or anything like that so far. We're wondering if they will be playable or possibly just be around to help the story along.
