British boy band One Direction just isn't the same without Zayn Malik. According to MTV, the band gave a touching tribute to their absent bandmate at a concert in Manila, Phillipines, last Saturday. Bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Liam Payne acknowledged Malik's unexpected decision to take a break from the band's On The Road Again Tour when they introduced themselves to the crowd by their individual names and not as One Direction.
Emotional fans reportedly took the band's first-name introduction in Manila as a sign of Tomlinson, Horan, Styles, and Payne's unbreakable friendship with Malik, and expressed their disappointment with Malik's absence on Twitter.
Reportedly, Malik's cohorts didn't seem to have any trouble filling in for their missing bandmate. As MTV points out, the band has covered for Malik once before when he missed a Today Show performance last year. Despite Malik's exit from the tour, reportedly due to the stress and "pressure" of fame, the bandmates all seem to wish each other well.
However, People reports the band is "really worried" about Malik. There's no official word yet on whether or not he'll be leaving One Direction permanently, but meanwhile, Malik's 16-year-old sister Waliyha asks fans to pray for her brother.
According to Huffpost, Waliyha shared a message on Instagram that suggested reported cheating rumors might have caused Malik undue stress. She urged fans and followers to stop sending him hurtful messages and accusations: "Don't worry guys, Zayn is going to be okay very soon. All the stress has just gotten to him because of the rumours and hatred he has heard and received," she wrote. "Please pray for my brother, please help him because I know he will be okay. please stop sending him hate."
