Get ready to take a dip into the ocean, as this week's all-new episode of Once Upon a Time is all about everyone's favorite sea witch, Ursula. That's right folks, Ariel's nemesis is back and fans are getting a massive look into her backstory. I mean so far back in fact that viewers get to see her in her mermaid form.
When the episode kicks off, we are treated to a beautiful serenade by a mermaid as she tries to lure Hook's ship into the rocks. However, while we thought this voice belonged to Ariel, we were shocked to find out that it was actually Ursula who had the golden pipes. Also turns out that she was leading the Jolly Rodger away from the treacherous cliffs, something her father Poseidon isn't too happy about.
We start to see a divide in Ursula's relationship with her father, much like Ariel's in the movie The Little Mermaid. It seems that he isn't so receptive to her using her voice to save humans. Like Ariel, Ursula runs away from home and joins the human world where she sings to earn money for a trip to Glowery, which was her mother's favorite place.
While singing in a bar, Ursula meets Hook and they strike up a deal to get her the money she needs for her trip, if she can get him something from her father's treasure to take down the Dark One.
In Storybrooke the gang is still trying to get information on the author and they have enlisted the help of August, well more like forced him into helping by kidnapping him and making him answer their questions. They even give him his growing nose trait to tell if he is lying about the questions that they're asking.
Through there not so graceful tactics, they discover that the author is trapped behind a door, which looks like something on the page that August ripped out of the book and gave to Regina.
While Maleficent, Cruella, Regina and Rumple all go looking for the door, Hook tries to get Ursula her happy ending, as he claims he is the one that stole it from her, and it turns out he did. During their time in the Enchanted Forest Hook actually stole Ursula's singing voice and trapped it in a shell, because he was double crossed by her father. After her voice is gone, Ursula steals Poseidon's trident and turns herself into an octopus.
He feels that if he gives her back her voice that she will likely spill the secrets on the Dark One's plan. Turns out he was right, but not before Ursula turns on him, throws him overboard, and is reunited with her father.
Poseidon comes back to Storybrooke and he is able to give Ursula her happy ending by returning her voice. Now that she is cheery, she leaves the other villainesses behind, but not before giving Hook some important information. She tells him that the Dark One's plan is to give everyone their happy endings but that can't happen with the savior aka Emma in the picture, so he is planning on filling her heart with darkness.
That isn't the only useful bit of information that comes out at the end of the episode, as it is also revealed by August that the author is trapped inside the book.
The villains this season also seem to have the best quotes, so we have picked out some of the best from this episode and have listed them below:
"Now lets see if we can pull this puppets strings."- Rumple on questioning August
"Spill one drop and Storybrooke will have a giant squid in its harbor."- Hook to Ursula about the magic growing potion
"The scruff is so much more attractive then the timber."- Cruella to Pinocchio
"Sorry honey your boyfriend is shark bait."- Ursula to Emma after throwing Hook into the harbor.
"You don't need to protect me father, you need to fear me."- Ursula after turning herself into an octopus.
"As long as there is a savior the villains can't get their happy endings."- Ursula about Emma
