When AC/DC took the stage at Coachella Friday night, April 10, the band had a few constants and notable differences. For one, they gave the usual powerful rock 'n' roll attitude while lead singer Brian Johnson pranced around the stage in full schoolboy attire. While those two constants were on display, those at Coachella who knew what a guitar was saw that the band debuted two new members in Steve Young, Malcolm Young's nephew, and drummer Chris Slade, who is replacing Phil Rudd as he deals with several legal charges in New Zealand.

Even with the new members, you never would've noticed a difference because during that performance AC/DC was vintage AC/DC.

"I hope you guys like rock and roll," Johnson told the Coachella crowd, "because that's all we do."

On Friday, the band played some old concert favorites and mixed in some new tracks. "The Jack" was followed by their latest single "Rock or Bust." Of course, they also played "Hells Bells" and closed the show with cannons firing off during "For Those About to Rock."

At one point, Johnson made his way out to the crowd during "Let There Be Rock" and played guitar on a giant hydraulic lift. After coming down from the lift, fans noticed he had bloodied knees. Apparently, Johnson threw himself to the ground so much that he ripped his legs apart. If there was an equivalent to Curt Schilling's bloody sock in music, then Johnson's knees at Coachella may be the moment.

What was special about the Coachella performance was that this was the band's first full show in six years. With guitarist Malcolm Young succumbing to dementia, finding the time to play live is something the band hasn't been able to do. With this solid appearance, though, we may be seeing more.
