The mystery behind the Goddess of Thunder's secret identity will finally be revealed. In a special preview by Marvel Comics, all questions will be answered about the wielder of the Mjolnir, Female Thor, in In Thor #8, written by Jason Aaron and drawn by Russell Dauterman.
Let's recap to Original Sin, during Thor's unexpected downfall in his battle with the all-too powerful Nick Fury. Having stolen the cosmic powers of The Watcher, Fury whispered a few words to bring down his enemy. The mighty hammer, known as Mjolnir, had a mind of its own now, refusing to be picked up by anyone, especially by its previous owner.
We previously mentioned, the original words of the Mjolnir state, "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." The great hammer was lying on the surface of the moon, unable to be lifted by anyone worthy. While an army of Frost Giants were invading Earth, and the male Thunder God missing in action, someone had to pick up the mantle.
In our review of the must-read Thor #1, writer Jason Aaron played into the themes of self-value and self-worth throughout the storyline. Now that Thor has been stripped of his powers, what is he really good for? Artist Russell Dauterman delivered an impressive sight to see as the Frost Giants were marching across into their underwater battle.
The eighth issue reaches its climax with, as the final battle with the Destroyer leads to Thor and Odinson calling in for a little backup. Amid the fire and the fury of intense battle, questions will definitely be answered. Not only does the installment mark a surprising return, there will be tons of guest stars as well.
With Secret Wars coming up, the last page will definitely send shockwaves through the Marvel Universe. As worlds collide, heroes and villains will be fighting each other for the survival of their planet. Will Female Thor and Thor have to fight against each other when sacrifices have to be made?
Thor #8 is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 13, 2015.
