MStars News has learned that '80s great Johnny Kemp died Thursday during a trip to Jamaica. According to TMZ, the "Just Got Paid" singer was only 55 years old. The Bahamas native was reportedly found floating on a beach in Montego Bay. Details to what caused his death are still unknown at thist time.
Kemp was the man who made people get up and jam to his hit song in the '80s, and still today with a new generation. The hit song "Just Got Paid" can be heard in a number of films, including Love & Basketball.
"Just Got Paid" was released in 1988 and was the singer's biggest hit topping the Billboard charts at No. 10 and No. 1 on the dance charts. The song was also nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Song.
According to The Bahamas Weekly, Kemp died on a cruise ship, but later the reports claimed he died after he fell on rocks at the beach in Jamaica.
Some reports revealed that Kemp was on board the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage 15 when he died, the Baller Alert claims that he was supposed to join the cruise in Jamaica, but the singer's body was reportedly found floating on a beach in Montego Bay.
Kemps career started in nightclubs in the Bahamas when he was 13. The singer later moved to New York to be part of a band called Kinky Fox in 1979.
Kemp leaves behind his wife, Deidre, two sons, and a host of family, friends and fans.

Shocked fans took to Twitter to express their grief. One person even noted that they were singing his famous song just hours before finding out the singer passed — after all, it is Friday.
