Season 3 of The Americans has only 1 episode left on FX. In Episode 13,now that their secret is out in the open, are undercover spies Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) Jennings unable to stop Claudia (Margo Martindale)' from turning Paige (Holly Taylor) into her "solider?"
In our previous recap, Clark (Rhys) taught Martha (Alison Wright) how to lie during her interrogation at FBI headquarters. Because there are more risks involved, Philip asks Gabriel (Frank Langella) for a favor and get Elizabeth to visit her dying mother. As her world continued to fall apart, Paige was unable to speak to her parents, especially when her real grandmother was mentioned.
In our recent recap, Claudia met with Gabriel, telling him she still wanted to recruit Paige for the Center. Because she doesn't know who her family is, Elizabeth asks Paige to go with her to Russia and visit her dying grandmother. With his pretend marriage crumbling, Philip took off his hair piece, removed his glasses, and revealed his true self to Martha.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Martindale revealed the relationship between Claudia and Gabriel, "It's not clear. I tried to cram as much into it as possible. There could have been a relationship. I'm not privy to this, but I tried to leave it open that if they wanted those things to have happened, they could. It's fun to be able to leave possibilities and a way for the writers to make what they want. Also, I actually replaced him originally. When the show started, I was stepping in for their old handler, Gabriel, because he was not working out."

The Justified actress adds what Claudia's plans are for Paige, "It was good for me as a solider. I think it was good for Gabriel as a solider. For me - because I'm so trained - I can only see the good of being with the KGB. Elizabeth, too."
