When the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer first debuted it piqued the interest of the hardcore fan and the casual fan. That's a special feat when it comes to a comic book movie about characters that aren't mainstream. Once the Chris Pratt-led Guardians finally hit the big screen last summer, it exploded. The film became the most successful Marvel feature since the Avengers. Naturally, the film is slated for a sequel but it looks like it may not be called Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Instead it might be Guardians 3000.
The alleged name change was discovered in the current issue of Production Weekly – a magazine that goes in detail on the latest workings in Hollywood. Right next to the list of upcoming film names, Guardians 3000 is in parenthesis by Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Guardians 3000 is not only a possible film name but it's also a current monthly title in Marvel's comic rotation. It stars the original Guardians of the Galaxy Vance Astro, Yondu, Martinex, Starhawk and Charlie 27. Their mission is to save us all from the evil Badoon.
If the Guardians 3000 comic has the original team then you have to think they may be in the movie of the same name. Whatever it will be called, the sequel to Marvel's smash hit will be in theaters by Summer 2017. Production will begin very soon in February 2016. Guardians director James Gunn said the screenplay has been underway for some time now.
The movie will be shot in Atlanta, which is where Captain America: Civil War and Ant-Man were shot. Not only is Atlanta a mainstay for the Walking Dead, it's becoming a prominent location for Marvel. Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and former WWE Champion Dave Bautista will be reprising their old roles.
