Tom Cruise Details 'Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation' At CinemaCon 2015: First Public Appearance Since Scientology Documentary 'Going Clear' Premiered

Accompanied by his 2015 Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation costars Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson, Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise made his first public appearance since the Scientology documentary Going Clear was released on HBO at the 2015 CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week. Not only was this the first time that Cruise, the face of Scientology came to an event after the documentary revealed a ton of information about the popular religion, but Cruise was reportedly the big hit of the convention! He spoke about the stunts he performed and opened up about the franchise.

"Here we are at number five almost 20 years later, it's really a dream come true. This movie has a tremendous amount of action of course, but also intrigue and mission twists," Cruise teased the audience, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The cast members brought along two new clips from the upcoming film, which hits theaters on July 31. While the clips rolled, those in attendance got to witness some of the stunts performed by the action star.

"All of what you're about to see, he did it, he really did it," Pegg told the audience.

"As always, I will do everything I can to entertain an audience and put as many people into your theaters," Cruise told the crowd, then admitted that the stunt where he holds onto the side of an airplane as it takes off, featured in the trailer, scared him ... well, a lot!

He explained that he had no protection on under his clothes and that he was only attached to the plane by a single rope while wearing protective lenses for his eyes.
