WWE taped the April 23, 2015 edition of Thursday Night SmackDown from Providence, Rhode Island on Tuesday, and this will be the final televised WWE event before the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on Sunday.
The show begins with Seth Rollins, who cuts a promo that Kane interrupts. The two argue for a while about Rollins' WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with Randy Orton on Sunday. Kane decides to book a match against Rollins later in the night in the hopes that the champion would lay down for Kane, just as he did for Rollins two weeks ago on Monday Night Raw.
They go through the motions but Kane says he was just joking after Rollins laid down. He then books Rollins against Dean Ambrose, which never starts because Luke Harper attacks Ambrose as he heads to the ring. Roman Reigns then hits the ring which sets up, you guessed it, a tag team main event.
Neville and Dolph Ziggler defeat Bad News Barrett and Sheamus when Barrett eats a Zig Zag and a Red Arrow.
Bray Wyatt cuts another promo.
Naomi defeats Natalya.
The Prime TIme Players cut a promo to mock Tyson Kidd and Cesaro.
Ryback defeats Rusev by disqualification when Rusev uses the Russian Chain on him. Prior to the match, Lana explains the importance of the chain. After the bell, Rusev locks in the Accolade on Ryback with the chain.
Backstage, Rollins and Harper argue, and there's some reference to how Harper is Jamie Noble's distant cousin.
Kofi Kingston defeats Cesaro when he hits Trouble in Paradise off a distraction. The New Day cuts a promo prior to this match.
Reigns and Ambrose defeat Rollins and Harper when Reigns gets the hot tag and spears Rollins for the clean pin. Kane is ringside but does not interfere in the match.
