Audiences have been binge-watching the highly anticipated Marvel's Daredevil, making the Netflix superhero series a bona-fide success. With the recent announcement of Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil, viewers are anxious to see the next chapter of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) after he took on his nemesis to Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) in the live-action version of the popular comic book.
As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom battles. But when darkness falls, Daredevil serves out his own brand of justice as he protects Hell's Kitchen from The Kingpin (D'Onofrio).
Check out our 5 reasons why we're already excited for Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil:
5) "I Am The Ill Intent"
A big round of applause for Vincent D'Onofrio's performance as Wilson Fisk. There's a lot more the show can do for the antagonist, since he hasn't earned The Kingpin title yet. Plus I'd love to see more of the mob wife storyline with Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer). After World on Fire, how's Fisk going to top blowing up half of Hell's Kitchen?
4) The Group Dynamic
To be honest, the show wouldn't have worked without the phenomenal chemistry between Deborah Ann Woll, Charlie Cox, and Elden Henson. The trio just click right away when they're in a scene together. On camera, it looks like the three genuinely like other; which is why the love triangle between them feels so believable.
3) The New Showrunners
As we previously mentioned, executive producer/showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is stepping down due to scheduling conflicts and named Doug Petrie (American Horror Story: Coven) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) as his successors. Petrie co-wrote Season Eight of the comic book series, Buffy The Vampire Slayers. And Ramirez...you already had me at Sons of Anarchy! Seriously, there's nothing cooler than tough guys writing tough guys.
2) More One-Take Fight Scenes
In Cut Man, Daredevil has to beat up some Russian thugs before he can rescue a kidnapped child. They Birdman-ed that sequence out, capturing the entire fight sequence in one take. Inspired by The Raid and Oldboy, the man without fear knows how to take a beating and give a beatdown at the same time.
1) Can Luke Cage Show Up?
After Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist get their series, each Marvel hero will turn up alongside Daredevil for the superhero team, The Defenders. I would love to see a scene between Deborah Ann Woll and Krysten Ritter as their characters. Because they's the best of friends in the comics, it would be so cool to have Mike Colter and Charlie Cox in the same shot.
