'Grey's Anatomy' Spoilers: Patrick Dempsey Vacations Abroad Following Divorce & Firing Drama

Patrick Dempsey is having a pretty rough couple of months. Not only is the star going through a divorce from wife Jillian Fink, but he also lost his job, as he was just killed off of Grey's Anatomy in an episode from last month, and he just put his house on the market. So like any sane person, Dempsey decided that he needed to get away from the drama for a little bit, and he packed his bags and headed for Europe. That's right, the star traveled to Belgium in the hopes of leaving his problems in the United States.

Us Weekly posted pictures of the star out-an-about abroad, where he was enjoying some downtime after being on the ABC series for over 10 years. While the 49-year-old star was killed off the Shonda Rhimes series in a fiery car explosion, it is ironic that he is spending his unemployment time indulging in his favorite hobby of racecar driving.

While he wont be making an appearance on our TV screens this week, Dempsey has been keeping his fans updated on his happenings through his Twitter account.

 The star also took to to the social media site to thank his loyal fans for their support over the years, writing, "I want to thank all the fans, what an incredible 11 yrs, I love you all."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dempsey said that he wasn't upset with the creative team's decision to kill him off, saying, "It just kind of happened."

"It just sort of evolved," the star explained. "It really was something that was kind of surprising that unfolded, and it just naturally came to be. Which was pretty good. I like that way it has all played out."

While we are definitely going to miss seeing McDreamy's smiling face on our TV's every week, we are glad that he seems to be enjoying his downtime in Europe.
