It looks like Tom Brady is feeling the wrath from that whole DeflateGate scandal––and no, not just from Jon Stewart. As a result of "covering up" the fact that he knew a number of footballs were deflated, the famed quarterback is being suspended for four games with no pay, and his team, the New England Patriots, are being fined $1 million. But according to reports, Brady plans to appeal the suspension.
Per NFL.com, Brady's suspension comes after it was discovered that it is "more probable than not" that Brady knew the team was playing with a deflated ball during the AFC Championship Game.
After the league decided Brady's short-time fate, Patriots owner Robert Kraft made a statement: "Despite our conviction that there was no tampering with footballs, it was our intention to accept any discipline levied by the league."
He further commented, "Today's punishment, however, far exceeded any reasonable expectation. It was based completely on circumstantial rather than hard or conclusive evidence."
In the scandal, there have been several instances in which Brady appeared to be covering up and withholding some sort of information, which ultimately led the NFL to make the call for suspension.
Commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly wrote to Brady that it was because of his "failure to cooperate fully and candidly with the investigation" that the decision was made. Additionally, Brady refused to "produce any relevant electronic evidence (emails, texts, etc.)," which certainly only added to his failure to cooperate.
