An easy way to gauge how advanced a video game is, is by simply looking at how realistic the characters appear to be in-game, namely the faces. According to Uncharted 4's writer, Josh Scherr, we're in for quite the technological experience with this new title.
"We've completely revamped our facial animation systems," Scherr said in a new interview over at GamesTM. "The previous Uncharted games, and in The Last Of Us, the characters all had about 90 to 100 'bones' in their faces which we used to move the meshes around.
According to IGN, Scherr continued comparing the new game to the hit 2013 title, expressing how advanced these new faces will look.
"Think about that, about how detailed Joel and Ellie's pained facial expressions were, how well the game captured the respective actors' - Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson - seminal roles. All that was achieved on the old tech. Now, the faces have anywhere between 300 and 500 bones."
