Eddie Murphy has been dubbed the highest overpaid actor. Known for blockbuster hits like, "Coming to America", "Trading Places", "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Nutty Professor," but since then has produced major flops.
Eddie Murphy comedic style has been compared to Richard Pryor and Red Foxx when he first arrived to Hollywood, but since then has simmered down on the profanity after having children. Murphy decided to do child friendly movies such as, "Shrek", "Mulan", "Norbit" and "Dr. Dolittle." However, he did have major movie collapse, one in which was "Tower Heist" that had an all star cast that was guaranteed to rack in some blockbuster numbers, yet earned $153 million on a $75 million budget.
The actor was nominated for a supporting role in 'Dream Girls," but didn't win in his category (which was rare after he won a Golden Globe). Upset of his loss, he walked out of the ceremony right after the announcement. His bitterness against the academy may have be the spiteful reason he backed out of hosting the Academy Awards years later.
Well, its not an Oscar, but he did make it out on top on some category.
