Ben Stiller's famed parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, were perhaps one of the funniest couples in comedy. Hell, even in Hollywood. Sadly, the family suffered a loss just yesterday when it was announced that the famed Zoolander and Zoolander 2 star's mother, Anne Meara, had died at the age of 85 years old.
The Associated Press is reporting that the family released a statement just last night, Sunday, May 24, stating that the famed comedienne had passed away.
The site notes that the family's statement read, "The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long."
The famed funny family continued, "Anne's memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedienne."
The couple gained fame as Stiller & Meara on The Ed Sullivan Show back in the 60s. Afterwards, they both went on to become noticeable names and faces in a number of large films and TV shows.
Meara was seen on anything from Rhoda to Sex and the City and even alongside Jerry Stiller on King of Queens.
Following word of her death, Ben Stiller took to his Twitter account to thank everyone for their kind words.
Thank you so much for all the kind words about Anne. All of us in our family feel so lucky to have had her in our lives.
