Who will win as two unstoppable armies will clash in Marvel Comics' epic crossover event, Secret Wars? An onslaught of killer robots will fight against the flesh-eating living dead in Age of Ultron Vs. Marvel Zombies #1, by writer James Robinson and artist Steven Pugh.
As we previously mentioned, Secret Wars features the Marvel superheroes from alternate realities coming together to meet in an epic standoff. The Marvel's superheroes and super-villains will be forced to defend themselves for the survival of their universe. There will be no Marvel Universe, no Ultimate Universe, or any other, just Battleworld.
In the plot synopsis, readers are taken beyond the Shield. On the far side of Battleworld's impenetrable barrier, the border lies between two domains. The genocidal robotic armies of Ultron fight the endless hordes of flesh-eating corpses.Imagine the poor souls trapped between these unstoppable forces. Will you choose death by the super powered living dead? Or by an unending army of indestructible robots?
In an interview with Marvel, Robinson explains how the concept came about, "I had the idea of an area on the border between the worlds of Ultron and the Zombies, where humanity was holding out withstanding these two opposing types of inhumanity. From there it became the idea of a war between Ultron's robots and the zombie horde with this bastion of humanity as the prize. Then I had the idea of incorporating the Hank Pym of Gerry Duggan's book Redacted which takes place in the Confidential domain called Censored; we now had a man from an earlier time-Hank Pym, not Gerry-involved, along with Jim Hammond, The Vision, and Wonder Man, all of whom have links to Ultron in some way."
Robinson teases, "If anything it's like the TV series 'Lost'-if the robots and zombies were trying to defeat/eat the survivors."
We mentioned before, we have 5 reasons why we're rooting for Miles Morales' survival in Ultimate End #1.
Age of Ultron Vs. Marvel Zombies #1 will hit stores June 24, 2015.
