Comedian Tracy Morgan made us all pregnant when he talked earlier today with Today's Matt Lauer. Of course, only fans of the 30 Rock star will get that reference, but even for those who don't know his material, the world was oh, so interested to see Morgan back on camera after last year's horrific accident, which occurred on June 7, 2014. The accident resulted in the unfortunate death of Morgan's friend and comedian James McNair, aka Jimmy Mack, as well as Morgan's lawsuit with American business tycoon Walmart, which was seemingly just settled.
During his interview with Lauer, the 46-year-old admitted that while bones heal, "the loss of my friend will never heal."
It was his first public appearance since the accident. Morgan took to it with a cane and a number of scars. Regardless, he appears thrilled just to be alive.
"I can't believe I'm here," he said. "I can't believe I'm in front of you. And just seeing the tragedy that happened, it kinda—it touches me."
On the accident, his memory appears foggy:
"I don't remember the accident. I just remember when I came through, Megan, my fiancé, was right there, my son was right there, and Mark was right there and Ben was right there, and that's basically what I remember."
Take a look at a segment from Morgan's interview with Today below:
(Good thing Lauer was able to get that weather plug in there, no?)
Morgan went on to thank his family, particularly his wife and children and friends, for helping him get through his tragedy. He also called out 30 Rock creator and star Tina Fey, thanking her for her help.
So, what's next for the comic? Eventually, getting back into stand up. But first, Morgan is trying to heal. He does, however, promise that he's going to get back to making us all laugh very soon.
