It looks like The Big Bang Theory just got a lot more popular, folks. It's being reported that creator and showrunner Chuck Lorre, and the show's cast, have kicked off a scholarship program valued at $4 million (right now) for low-income students getting into UCLA.
Per a report from the Los Angeles Times, Lorre's scholarship will focus on science and math, which is appropriate given the subject of his famed CBS series starring Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar.
Lorre, of course, also famously created Two and a Half Men.
The writer-producer recently released a statement about the scholarship saying, "We have all been given a gift with The Big Bang Theory, a show that's not only based in the scientific community, but also enthusiastically supported by the same community. This is our opportunity to give back."
The folks at Big Bang – the main cast as well as Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) and Mayim Bialik (Amy) – have confirmed that they are contributing to the scholarship.
Now, if Lorre's name sounds familiar to you – aside from being one of the most famous showrunners around – he was the center of that whole Charlie Sheen debacle back when the famed actor was let go of his Two and a Half Men contract.
