Most of us want to make more money, and many of us need to do so. But did you know that being cynical could very well lead to a lower salary and having poor physical health? Yeah, it came as a shock to us as well. But it figures; we're never told anything first.

Oh snap, there's our cynicism kicking in...

Anyway, reports from The Huffington Post state that a cynic's outlook on life could be "linked with poor physical health as well as reduced psychological well-being." Furthermore, being cynical has a tendency to make us less happy and could to lead to more problems with the Mr. or Mrs.

But why is this so?

Psychology researcher from University of Cologne in Germany Olga Stavrova notes, "Employees who believe others to be exploitative and dishonest are likely to avoid collaborative projects and to forgo the related opportunities."

Opportunities like making more money...

Therefore, it might be a better option to see the good in people (as hard as that might be) instead of automatically assuming everyone is out to get you. Believe it or not, people may be, well, good.

"Occupational success and economic prosperity represent important life goals for many people," Stravrova claims, continuing, "and promote life satisfaction and psychological well-being."

So maybe if we're all looking to get into summer shape, we should start looking within ourselves?
