Back by popular demand, the iconic sci-fi/horror series will premiere on Fox in 2016. Check out the first photos of paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) as they return back on set in the highly anticipated revival of The X-Files.
As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with 6 brand new episodes. Not only are the leads set to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.
The X-Files showrunner setup his own Instagram account and posted this snapshot on his wall:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, using social media to its advantage, Fox released via Twitter the first official image from its highly-anticipated revival. As their television counterparts, a scruffy Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and laid-back Scully (Anderson) can be seen in the backseat of a green screen-enveloped town car. The I Want To Believe writer/director also happens to be looking at the monitor.
Though we don't know which episode they are filming, it certainly looks like Carter will direct an episode, just like he did before in Improbable, which Burt Reynolds (Boogie Nights) guest-starred in and won an Emmy for.
The caption states, "EXCLUSIVE: Your first look at Mulder and Scully! #TheXFiles"
On her own Twitter account, the Hannibal actress shared this photo and tweeted, "And so it begins... "
Anderson also wrote, "First apple box. @thexfilesfox #XFilesRevival"
