Following the horrific act that went down in Charleston last week – in which 21-year-old Dylann Roof walked into into a Bible study group and opened fire at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church – it seems that many are realizing that while the United States tries its hardest to keep things calm overseas, perhaps we should be looking in our own country even more. The young racist's actions have also sparked a conversation about the Confederate flag, largely known as a beacon for the slavery era in the South. And naturally, the talk has expanded to Twitter, with denizens and celebrities taking to their social media platforms to express their thoughts on the famed southern flag.
Take a look at some thoughts from celebrity Twitter accounts below:
Hey, Lindsey Graham, if the Confederate flag is "who we are," maybe y'all should start being someone else.

By the way, why WOULD you want the confederate flag on your car? Its like telling the police "The meth is HERE" — Bill Maher (@billmaher) June 20, 2015
The people have spoken. The #Confederateflag is for smelly racist dickholes. — Sarah Silverman (@SarahKSilverman) June 20, 2015
Take down the #ConfederateFlag at the SC Capitol. To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred. Remove it now to honor #Charleston victims. — Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) June 20, 2015
"It was a Democratic governor who kept that [Confederate] flag up in South Carolina...so maybe it's a bipartisan problem." – @mattklewis — The Real Timers (@RealTimers) June 20, 2015
RT @JennyJohnsonHi5 FunFact: If people had to spell Confederate Flag before they could fly one, there'd be no more flying Confederate Flags. — Michael Moore (@MMFlint) June 20, 2015
The Confederate flag is the flag of a losing team. Like a "Cleveland Cavaliers 2015 NBA Champs" t-shirt.
