'Star Wars 7' Trailer, Kylo Ren Crossguard Lightsaber Slammed AGAIN by Obi-Wan Kenobi Actor Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor is at it again! Though there are rumors that the Scottish actor could reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in spin-off movies that might turn into a new trilogy for Star Wars, he's still throwing shade at J.J. Abrams' upcoming The Force Awakens film. To be fair, he has been praising the director for what he's seen in the Episode VII trailers and teasers, but McGregor can't get past the crossguard lightsaber we saw in the hands of Adam Driver's character, supposed Sith villain Kylo Ren. According to McGregor, a real lightsaber user wouldn't need the crossguard on the weapon. Read more on this news below!

Sitting down with IndieWire during the Edinburgh International Film Festival recently, McGregor was asked about the hype around Episode VII and whether or not he's as excited as most fans.

"I'm excited about it as much as anyone else. I saw the trailer and it looks like [J.J. Abrams] absolutely nailed it and it feels right," he explained (via Slash Film), but then fell back to his stance about the lightsaber: "But I'm not sure about the [crossguard] lightsaber. If you fight with a lightsaber properly you don't need one."

McGregor is clearly proud of his lightsaber training from the prequel trilogy. Considering this ins't the first time he's said this, he seems adamant about making sure fans understand that real lightsaber wielders wouldn't use the crossguard.

Meanwhile, McGregor also acknowledged the recent rumors of a Kenobi spin-off series taking place between Episodes III and IV.  

"I'll say it publicly, here, now. I'd be happy to do the story between Episode III, that I finished in, and Episode IV that Alec Guinness started in," he said in the IndieWire interview. "I think that would be good. Disney should definitely do that."
