Before Season 2 of The Royals returns on E!, Lionsgate Home Entertainment is putting together the first 10 episodes on DVD. Get a royal dose of scandal and drama with Queen Helena Henstridge (Elizabeth Hurley), Prince Liam (William Moseley) and Princess Eleanor (Alexandra Park) in The Royals: The Complete First Season.
From E!'s plot synopsis, the show is set in modern-day England. The first season followed the lives of a fictional British Royal family that inhabits a world of opulence and regal tradition catering to any and every desire. This is also a world that comes with a price tag of duty, destiny, and intense public scrutiny.
Helena (Hurley) is the matriarch the British royal family, who struggles to keep her children away from the public eye. Twins Prince Liam (Moseley) and Princess Eleanor (Park) are caught off-guard when their older brother Robert is killed. The grieving father, King Simon (Vincent Regan) fears for the future of the monarchy.
According to the press release, the three disc set will include three behind-the-scenes featurettes. Viewers will get an inside look from "Madness In Great Ones: Creating The Royals," "Behind the Royal Wardrobe" featurette, and "Private vs. Public: A Modern-Day Monarchy" featurette.
A smash success since its debut, the scripted series amassed an audience of 5.4 million viewers for the season premiere. The high ratings were enough for the cable network to grant the show a second season.
Creator Mark Schwahn (One Tree Hill) tells E! Online when to expect his sophomore season to return, "There will be a season two as we know, it will air sometime in November,"
Schwahn promises three major plot points will be driving season two. Who is responsible for the murder of the king? What is "domino?" And, are Liam and Eleanor truly illegitimate?
Schwahn promises, "We're going to answer all those questions."
The Royals will return to E! for Season 2 in November.
The Royals: The Complete First Season DVD hits stores on August 18.
