After what felt like, to many people in our nation, an endless battle for same-sex marriage equality, the United States Supreme Court has officially legalized gay marriage nationwide! President Barack Obama made an official statement to the nation after the ruling was announced, stating that this is "is a victory for America." "This ruling is a victory for America, this decision affirms what millions of Americans all believe in their hearts: when all Americans are treated as equal, we are all more free," Obama said this morning in front of the White House, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "We are big and vast and diverse a nation with people of different backgrounds and beliefs, different experiences and stories, but bound by our shared ideal that no matter who you are or what you look like, or how and how you love, America is a place where you can write your own destiny."
The proud President added: "There's so much more work to be done to extend the full promise of America to every American, but today we can say, in no uncertain terms, that we've made our Union a little more perfect."
The President also made sure got his point across in regards to the news by posting the following to Twitter:
