It's being reported that the mother of actor Michael Douglas, Diana Douglas – once known as Diana Dill – has died at the age of 92 from cancer. The deceased was the first wife of actor Kirk Douglas. It's being said she passed away just yesterday, Friday, July 3, in California.
NBC News is reporting that Diana's husband, Donald Webster, confirmed her death. She died at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital.
Douglas and Webster were married for 15 years. Following word of her death, Webster said, "She was a truly lovely person and a really great lady."
Much like her first husband and son Michael, Diana was an actress herself. The publication is noting that her career "spanned six decades." She appeared in a slew of television shows over the years, including ER, Dallas and The West Wing.
She also had a role in films such as Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Loving and It Runs in the Family. The latter of which she starred in alongside Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas and grandson Cameron Douglas.
As mentioned, before marrying Webster, Diana was wed to Kirk Douglas, whom she met while studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. The two had sons, Michael and Joel, and ultimately divorced way back in 1951. She then married Broadway's Bill Darrid in 1956 until he passed away in 1993. Douglas was married to Webster ten years later.
