MStars News has learned that an 1980s movie star Amanda Peterson has died, according to USA Today. The actress was 43 years old. Peterson was well known for her role in the 1987 film Can't Buy Me Love. Her family revealed that the actress died last Friday morning after her body was found alone in an apartment Sunday by the Greeley, Colo., police department.
Peterson's mother, Sylvia Peterson released a statement to the media after the passing of her daughter.
"It's a big loss. Such a loveable person," she said. "She had some medical problems with her heart but we don't know the cause yet."
According to People, the actress died unexpectedly in her sleep. Sylvia reflected on their final day together.
"She was in bed, and she'd had a wonderful day, and we were planning on a dinner the next day. So it was just a very, very big surprise. She was just so much fun, and she was just great," Sylvia continued, as she talked about her daghter. "She had a cute sense of humor [and a] love of history - just a very, very cute person."
Peterson's death is still under investigation, as a pending autopsy will reveal the final results. But if you ask Amanda's mother, Sylvia, she believes that her daughter died of sleep apnea.
Peterson's father also backed up that story and told TMZ, "She had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed."
Peterson's parents also claimed that their daughter had been dealing with a number of medical issues within the past 2 years, including pneumonia, sinusitis and sleep apnea. He father also noted that his daughter's home had some mold issues, and as a result, she moved out about a year ago.
Peterson became famous as Cindy Mancini back in 1987 when she starred as a blond cheerleader Can't Buy Me Love with Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey.
Dempsey mourned the loss of his former co-star in a tweet that read, "In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young. Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda's family."

Peterson left the entertainment industry after acting for 15 years. Later, she went back to school to focus on her education and family.
"She went back to school," her mother explained. "but she did not ever go back to Hollywood."
