Although Hugh Jackman has worked on movies with a number of A-List hotties like Scarlett Johansson and Ashley Judd, Jackman's wife, Deborra-Lee Furness has forbidden him to work with actor/director Angelina Jolie. In a video interview with Australia Today, Furness jokes as to why Jackman isn't continuing with the Wolverine franchise. "I've told his agent he's not allowed to work with Angelina." Also quipping, "I'm sure she's lovely." Furness then proceeds to explain how they have really worked on their marriage and how they've really kept it going for the past twenty years.
Furness and Jackman first met on set of Correlli (1995) and have found to be very grateful for the consistency and stability of their marriage. Furness said, "That's the deal with this business. If you get it right, if you pick the right partner, then you traverse all those travails and challenges." One of the rules of the marriage is that they don't spend more than two weeks apart. Something they really had to exercise during the course of some of Jackman's shoots. "I mean I miss him. He tells really good jokes," Furness said.
We often hear of so many divorces taking place that it's important to see how the successful marriages happen.
One of Jackman's projects to look out for is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl released earlier this summer and Pan directed by Joe Wright of Anna Karenina and Atonement fame. The film follows the much imagined Neverland when an orphaned boy finds his way there to only encompass the eventual hero-role of Peter Pan. Also starring Amanda Seyfried, Rooney Mara and Levi Miller as Peter Pan. The film is to be in theaters starting October 9th.
