Director Joe Wright's ambitious take on the origin story of Peter Pan and the literary location of Neverland, Pan has officially been pushed off of Warner Bros. Pictures' summer of 2015 release list. Now with a release date set for Oct. 9, this new project, which stars Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara, Garrett Hedlund and more, will have more time for post-production work. We've already seen a fantastic trailer for the film, so we're excited to see what this extra time can add to it! Read more on this news below!

In a press release sent out the media outlets, Warner Bros. Pictures head of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman explained that this delay will result in a better end product.
"We wanted to give Pan the space to extend its theatrical run, so taking it out of the cluttered summer season made the most sense," Fellman said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Moving the film to the heart of the fall will allow us more time to screen the picture, enabling us to capitalize on what we anticipate will be strong word of mouth."
Meanwhile, Wright also responded to this news in order to squash any concern over the highly anticipated movie.
"As you might expect, the fantastical story of Peter Pan involves very complex effects and I did not want to compromise on quality in finishing the film," the director said, according to Slash Film. "This allows me and my team the time to complete the movie and tell the story the way it should be told."
While the studio and the director are saying that the delayed release is for more work on the film, we can't help but wonder if this fall release means Pan could be an awards hopeful project.
