After Johnson was announced as the director of Episode VIII, we were under the impression that he'd also helm its sequel, especially since he's writing the script for both movies. With this new speculation surrounding Trevorrow, though, we might have been wrong!
According to Heroic Hollywood, Trevorrow is the man for the job and Disney and Lucasfilm are hoping to land the director for the project. In fact, the website claims Colin was at the top of the list for months now. We're assuming the tremendous success of Jurassic World made the decision a bit easier for the studios.
So is this just another rumor or something we can count on? We'll have to wait and see, but we know the director is up for the challenge.
In an on-set interview with Slash Film for Jurassic World, Trevorrow opened up about possibly directing a Star Wars film.
"Yeah, I can't say no to that idea. Look, I think you'd know I was lying if I said I would never ever do a Star Wars film," he previously said. "I could tell you absolutely, 100 percent for sure I'm not doing or involved in the Boba Fett one. And I'm sure they'll find a great filmmaker to do it. And I'm so impressed with the choices they have made. And I think specifically Rian Johnson is such an awesome filmmaker. And I'm so excited to see what he does."
