Ellen Pao irked a lot of people on the Reddit message boards. Many of the redditor faithful felt the interim CEO had a censorship problem. On top of that she faced an even bigger backlash when she let go of the Ask Me Anything's founder. With all the trouble that has come about, the CEO stepped down from her position. Taking her place is Reddit's original CEO and site co-founder Steve Huffman. The change will be happening effective immediately.

Pao said goodbye to her revolting redditors as soon as she left:

"After more than two years at Reddit, I have resigned today," Pao wrote in a post on the site. "In my eight months as Reddit's CEO, I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly on Reddit. The good has been off-the-wall inspiring, and the ugly made me doubt humanity."

Pao then went on to say that the ultimate reason for her leaving was because she felt she couldn't help the site grow within the next six months. Reddit's board of director's is currently pushing for a fast growth initiative.

"Ultimately, the board asked me to demonstrate higher user growth in the next six months than I believe I can deliver while maintaining Reddit's core principles."

Whether it's for Reddit or being in the middle of lawsuits, Pao has been in and out of the news for the last year. Before joining Reddit she filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against Kleiner Perkins––the Silicon Valley's most prominent venture capital firms. Pao lost but the suit kicked off a conversation about the lack of gender equality in the tech realm.
