During an interview on The Today Show, Judd Apatow was not only promoting his upcoming film Trainwreck but also shedding light on this reoccurring issue of people denying or supporting Cosby in the allegations against him.The 40 Year-Old Virgin director calls Bill Cosby out on his past crimes since the deposition he made in 2005 went viral that said he drugged over forty women with Quaaludes so he could sexually assault them.

Apatow said, "A lot of people got terribly hurt. And you know, when you go out on a date you don't need seven prescriptions for Quaaludes. I'm in show business. Famous people can meet women without the enormous prescriptions." He says he wishes people would just believe that what happened was wrong and that it is the worst attention that the entertainment business has received in recent years. He went on to say, "I just kept noticing that no one else was saying that this was a bad thing. I would have loved to not talk about it. It's incredibly sad. It's one of the most tragic things that's happened in our business, and I think we do have to stand up for the women and say that we believe you," he said to Today's Willie Geist.

On a lighter note, Apatow did talk about his upcoming film and how he heard comedian Amy Schumer on Howard Stern and fell in love with the way she performs. He mentions how she's honest and vulnerable when she is on stage and how he loved the idea of only directing this film instead of pulling double duty and writing and directing. He says that the film's story comes from a very real place, and that although not all of it is true, it does play with Schumer's actual relationship with her father and how she was brought up, and how she navigated the love/relationship world.

Trainwreck hits theaters July 17 and also stars SNL alum Bill Hader. Check out Apatow on The Today Show for the full interview.
