Before its the official October premiere date, CBS brought over their DC Comics superheroine Supergirl to 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. After the SDCC pilot screening, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) dished on what fans can expect.

As we previously mentioned, the CBS superhero drama will follow the comic book adventures of Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped before its destruction. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at the tender age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.

According to TV Line, executive producer Greg Berlanti explains why Supergirl was closed after Arrow and The Flash, "felt like it was time for a female lead at the center of one of these shows,"

Executive producer Ali Adler adds, "It was a story that needed to be told. You come in and see her as female and you'll remember her as powerful. Her gender doesn't really matter. She's a badass."

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg describes show's grounded tone is quite similar to Superman starring the late Christopher Reeve, "We were heavily influenced by the [Richard] Donner vision."

There will be competition between Jimmy Olsen (Brooks) and Jeremy Jordan's character as "Winn [Schott] is in love with Kara before he finds out she's Supergirl. There's another very strong, attractive male standing in the way"

As we previously mentioned, convention-goers were given an early look at the CBS' eagerly anticipated superhero pilot. The screening was held at the opening night of the convention Wednesday night. Though pilot was previously leaked online before, there were rave reviews for the leading actress and supporting cast.
