Stephenie Meyer, Kristen Stewart Host 'Twilight' Mini Movies Competition for Women in Film

Although The Storytellers: New Voices of the Twilight Saga doesn't star Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, the series covers a nice range of characters that fans wanted to hear more about from the original Twilight Saga including side characters like Alice and Carlisle Cullen. These seven films, which came as a result of a competition and premiered at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood, were truly very dark -- much darker than the original series could be. The Inquisitr reports, "The new films were all written and directed by females, and were selected by Lionsgate, Women in Film, Facebook, Tongal, Volvo and Stephenie Meyer in order to garner attention to the role women play in film."

At the theater, the extremely excited Twilight fans got seven films for the price of six, which included: The Groundskeeper, Sunrise, Turncoats, The Mary Alice Brandon File, Consumed, We've Met Before and Masque. Afterwards, fans could also attend a Q&A with Meyer herself.

The films were all written and directed by female writers and directors. Meyer is excited because the winning mini-movie will be awarded $100,000.

Meyer said during a Q&A in Hollywood, "What was exciting about this project is someone was willing to put their money where their mouth was... It's been really exciting to do something, maybe not on a huge scale, but on a small scale to get more female voices out there," the Inquisitr reports.

The films were the finalists in a competition for Twilight fans to write about characters that didn't get as much page time during the course of the original series. Fans also have a say in which mini-movie will win and they can cast their votes as of right now so their favorite movie can win the grand prize!
